K9 HEROES: Adam Leigh Cann Canine Facility Dedication Ceremony 3/28/08

On 3/28, I had the privilege and honor of attending this amazing dedication in honor of fallen K9 Handler, Adam Leigh Cann. The Dedication was held in Barstow, CA., where I got to meet the Leigh and Carol Cann for the very first time, which was amazing! I can't say enough about this proud and loving family!

The ceremony was beautiful! Their was a Major General, The Mayor, and other high ranking Marines in attendance. My friend and Marine, Lcpl. Granado(K9 Handler)brought MWD Bruno, who was with Sgt. Cann when he was KIA in Iraq. When the National Anthem was sung, Bruno howled the entire song which made the Ceremony all the more special. It was a day, I will never forget for an INCREDIBLE man & Marine that will always be remembered in my heart!

This organization is working very hard to raise money to erect and dedicate a Military Working Dog Memorial. Their memorial will honor ALL MILITARY Working Dogs, their Handlers, Trainers, and Vetinary Staff too which will be for the past-present-and future.

They are accepting donations, sponsers & advertisers. One of the things you can purchase to help is this amazing MWD Memorial Coin. The front features our K9 statue image in front of an image of the flag along with the Purple Heart. The wording "Faithful-Devoted-Cherished" and MWD Memorial will be on the front as well. The back of the coin features the silhouette of a K9 Handler and MWD on watch surrounded by all the branches of service. The silhouette was chosen for the coin because it is of Cpl. Dustin Lee from Mississippi; he was killed on March 21, 2007.
